Our Educational Principles
Cutting-edge curricula based on
child psychology
and neuroscience
At Excelsior University For Children, we will help your child reach their full potential using cutting-edge principles of education. Neuroscientists and psychologists stress the importance of the “critical periods” of a child’s growth, during which their brain develops rapidly for different learning skills. In accordance with Harvard professor Dr. H. Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory, we believe it is of utmost importance to help the child develop a broad set of talents and skills during various critical periods.
Whole-Person Education
A good life isn’t just about learning, working, and success. At Excelsior University for Children, we educate children as “whole persons” by focusing on the following six values: wisdom, justice, courage, temperance, benevolence, and transcendence. And we cultivate the following six habits: self-reliance, politeness, time management, reading, grit, and self-discipline.
Educational Principles
Social-Emotional Learning
Life is full of ups and downs. Your child’s ability to understand and regulate their own emotions will give them the strength to persist through all of life’s challenges. The first step to building resilience, character, and healthy relationships with others starts with social-emotional learning.
Executive Function
Even the fastest car in the world needs a good steering wheel to drive on the right path. Executive Function is the ability to pay attention to what’s important and make decisions clearly. Training in Executive Function ensures that your child will be able to fully make the most effective use of their natural gifts.
